College Residency

A College Residency with Jazz Ain't Dead®

Jazz Ain't Dead is a collective of young urban jazz musicians and dancers who perform music for today's audiences with a serious jazz sensibility.  Music Director and Arrangers and their choreographer, Candice Michelle Franklin are established practitioners in their fields of jazz and contemporary jazz music and jazz dance performance respectively.  Residencies include theory and approach to performing contemporary jazz music for both student musician and dancer, exercises in re-interpretation of phrase, studies in African American Jazz traditions of call-and-response and improvisation, ear training, and an end of workshop performance.

Jazz Ain't Dead can also custom design a residency for either your music or dance department or both!  Not only will Jazz Ain't Dead instructors mount repertory and teach skills in the art of traditional and contemporary jazz dance, jazz improvisation, and nu jazz music performance, but also, with a residency we would be able to guide both departments simultaneously to create one seamless piece or a more comprehensive performance of several selections of music and dance performed together.

Single Master classes in dance and music are also available upon request.  Click here to contact us to schedule a residency at your institution today!
